"There's some real big things coming from System; it doesn't fit in with what people have heard from Soundboy before; it's just good music that'll blow people away. It's music from the heart. It's not writing beats to sell units, it's for the love of it"

The people at Sun And Bass invited me to take care of this month's podcast. In many ways, I've reflected the musical diversity of the festival in my mix. I'd like to therefore, allow the music to do the talking . . .

Guest Playlist For Exit Records

posted 27 Apr 2012 02:05 by Lazune Lazune

Exit Records' Youtube channel is causing a stir following the submission of it's new Guest Playlist. Label boss dBridge, has Invited artists who've released with the imprint to create a playlist which can include "any song, any label, any genre". I took this as a wide open opportunity to reflect a smidgin of my almost random taste in music. I'm sure there's a thread running through my selection somewhere. . .

Out Today: New Mark System Music

posted 24 Oct 2011 00:34 by Lazune Lazune

Check o
ut Phil Source's "Old To The New EP". I wrote the title track with him.
We always work well together - It certainly helps that I'm a huge fan of his music from
the 90's. Our tune reflects elements of the old "Source Direct" approach but predominately, it's an honest display of Phil's progression as a solo artist.

Here's my official remix for Rizzle Kicks (who asked me to give their new single some D&B treatment). I maintained the jovial, energetic mood of their original and gave the brass sample some room to breathe.

Fracture & Mark System - Yeah But . . . / Closed Circuit (SubtitlesUK)

The latest release on Teebee's Subtitles UK is the result of a combined brainstorm between Fracture and me. Despite us having been good friends for many years, It's our first collaboration to see the light of day.
The 12" single came out on 1st August 2011 and (according to the distributor), has been very well received. Thank you all for the support!

BEATPORT: Yeah But . . . is an official "Must Hear Track Of The Week".

DJ MAG: "Highly atmospheric and delightfully dark" 9/10

Hold It! Goldie FABRICLIVE 58

posted 20 Jul 2011 10:05 by Lazune Lazune

The new "FABRICLIVE" series CD
has been mixed by Goldie for Fabric London. That's two huge dance music names in one package.

In the winter of '99, on my first visit to (now renowned) Fabric night club,
Reinforced Records filled the new venue with music.
Goldie played an old school set which contained no fillers. I only recognised 30% of the music he dropped, yet his set is the only one I remember hearing. His tune selection stood out. Almost 12 years on - I'm, proud to tell you that "Hold It" features on Goldie's FABRICLIVE mix CD. I'm proud, because I view Goldie as one of the Icons of Drum & Bass. He's inspired a lot of people. It's fantastic for me to give something back.

Fabric say "[the CD is] A loud and proud snapshot of his Metalheadz stable, and the like-minded artists that stay at their level on equally progressive D&B labels. The mix features some of the most cutting edge and visionary music on the genre’s helm".
